This two-hour hybrid event, delivered both virtually and in-person, will engage participants from community, science and cultural organisations and sectors in asking questions of the digital repository using our new Artificial Intelligence platform. Participants will submit their question before the session and answers will be discussed during the session. The aim of the session is to show how PhDs can provide answers to important real world questions.
What is a black hole made of? What are the causes of sleeplessness? How can we stay healthy as we age? This is your chance to have all your questions answered! This session will demonstrate a new Artificial Intelligence tool, nicknamed 'the sniffer', which interrogates EThOS, a digital repository which contains around 500,000 doctoral (PhD) theses, many containing unique, unreported research findings. The power of this vast resource of individuals’ research is underused as a coherent body of knowledge. Previously, laborious by-hand searches of the PhDs in EThOS have uncovered new chemical compounds, insights into career trajectories and generated language learning resources.
