During an hour long online discussion a series of 10-minute talks by researchers from different perspectives will reveal the problem of ‘fake drugs’. Followed by a Q&A.

What’s it about?

While many people assume that the problem of fake drugs is a pharmacological problem, in a great proportion of cases, the absence or presence of pharmaceutical ingredients often goes unexplored. 'Fakeness' often has more to do with packaging and paperwork than active ingredients. What does this surprising finding mean for the public, and do we need to worry about the quality of drugs? Against the backdrop of the current global pandemic, these questions are more important to ask than ever. Join a team of expert social scientists and historians as they discuss whether fake drugs are fake news or not.
