30-minute panel discussion by academics at the University of Leeds and external partner organisations, including LGBTQ+ Field Network, highlighting key findings and the training toolkits developed through the ESRC LSSI Impact Acceleration Award project Pride in the Field: Promoting Inclusive Fieldwork Spaces for LGBTQ+ Workers in Research, Policy and Practice. This will be followed by a 60-minute participatory discussion with audience members, inviting them to reflect on the toolkits, what works from their perspective, what is missing, and how they might implement the toolkits in their own work.
This event focuses on the challenges LGBTQ+ researchers face in field settings, and will set out recommendations for best practice to encourage organisations, practitioners and institutions to be more proactive in promoting LGBTQ+ inclusive fieldwork.
Dr Martin Zebracki, University of Leeds; Aydan Greatrick, University of Leeds; Sarah Bennet, LGBTQ+ Field Network; invited participants from LGBT STEM Network.
This event is open to participants working on LGBTQ+ inclusion at institutions and organisations and in contexts of advocacy and activism. The event organisers welcome expressions of interest from others outside these settings to participate.
The event will be of greater interest to those working in organisations, institutions and advocacy, campaign or human rights groups with some link to fieldwork and which particularly operate in, and battle, contexts that can be LGBTQ+ phobic. The focus will be on promoting safety and inclusion for LGBTQ+ research personnel and students in field settings, as well as exploring key recommendations of interest to those working on equality, diversity and inclusion.
If you would like to register your interest in this event please contact Aydan Greatrick on: a.e.greatrick@leeds.ac.uk by Friday 26th November.
